The Charity & Color Run returned to UniKL RCMP on Saturday 5 May 2018 for the 2nd year. About 1300 runners took part in the 5 km and 10 km run. The runners, mainly youngsters, arrived at the campus as early as 6.30am and waited anxiously for the event to start.
All the runners were clad in plain white t-shirts but went home with t-shirts smeared in different colours. Runners were splashed with coloured powder by the committee members at the two-colour stations on their way to the finishing line. The route began and ended at the college compound.
The run was flagged off by Mr Hisshamuddin Omar, Head of Campus of UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak, accompanied by Prof Dr Noorzaid Muhammad, Deputy Director of Student Development and Campus Lifestyle Department The first 50 participants to complete the run were given medals. On top of that, all participants who completed the run were given certificates of participation.
Hisshamuddin handed over a mock cheque amounting RM4000.00 to Dato’ Megat Ahmad Shahrani Bin Megat Shahrudin, President of National Autistic Society of Malaysia (NASOM).
While waiting for the lucky draw announcement, everyone was invited to join the Aero and Zumba dance led by UniKL RCMP students, abseiling, UniKL RCMP Open Day exhibition, chemical experiments, and an Educational Forum. In fact, there were many other activities run concurrently throughout the day.
The weather was extremely hot since the morning, but it got even ‘hotter’ with Khai Bahar’s special appearance at the UniKL RCMP Campus. Many of his die-hard fans were waiting anxiously for his arrival. Around 12 noon Khai appeared elegantly on stage and as promised, rendered three popular songs: Luluh, Bayang and Surat Cinta Untuk Starla.
Later, Khai said, “I am extremely happy to be here and would like to return if UniKL RCMP invites me again”.
Apart from that, a health forum was organized at 2.00 pm with more than 200 people from nearby schools attending. The topic of the forum was ‘Depression and Sharing Your Loneliness’. Dr Khairul Hafiz Hafidz Alkhair Khairul Amin and Dr Rajinder Singh A/L Gurcharan Singh were the main speakers at the forum. This event was organized by UniKL RCMP medical and health science students.
Overall, it was a memorable activity for the Perak community and our appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
