'Feels like home'. That is how our students describe their feelings on staying at UniKL RCMP

In conjunction with Hari Sungai Sedunia 2018 (World River Day), Kelab Kembara Kita (KKK) organized an event known as “River Rehabilitation” held on 29 September 2018. A total of 29 students were involved in this project and it was led by the KKK advisor Miss Syahidatul Akmar Safian. It was a collaborative event with the Global Environment Centre (GEC), Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI) and the volunteers. GEC, a non-profit organization (NGO) which works on environmental issues of global importance agreed to give full sponsorship to KKK for this particular event which will be held twice. The second session of this event has been scheduled to be held in November 2018 at the same location at Sungai Buntong, Ipoh.

All the participants were exposed to new information about water quality. Several tests were done on the water samples taken from Sungai Buntong and a briefing was given to explain the findings to all the participants.

Then the participants were divided into two groups to clean two different parts of Sungai Buntong. It took about 2 hours to clean the part of the river as it was very dirty. Obviously, there is a lack of awareness among the people regarding the importance of keeping water resources clean.

After the cleaning process, we assembled at the starting point again to do a quiz. The quiz was about the river, the GEC and the activities are done on that day. The event ended at 1.00 pm after the prize giving ceremony.

Our thanks to all those who supported this event.
