The objectives of this event are to introduce Chinese traditional folk art to the students and to develop an appreciation of the Chinese heritage. Through this program, students were able to acquire some basic knowledge of Chinese Paper Cutting techniques. The event began at 2 p.m with an opening speech given by General Studies Unit Coordinator, Pn. Monarusnita Abu Bakar. Next, Mandarin Lecturer, Mr Tay Yang Lian gave a short introduction about Chinese Papercutting to the participants. He also demonstrated many samples of paper cutting and the students were excited to see the unique and complex paper cutting techniques including ways to cut Plum blossom.

Competition Started at 3.15 pm. In this competition, participants were only allowed to use materials provided by the committee such as red papers, mahjong papers, scissors and stick glues to design their work. After one hour, the participants completed their work amidst a lot of chatting and excitement. The judges Mr Tay Yang Lian, Madam Monarusnita and Dr Seow Lay Jing had a tough time choosing the winners as most presented their work very creatively. After much discussion among the judges, the Peony Group from Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Technology became the Champion. The Piaoliang Group was declared as the Second Place winner; Narcos Group was placed third. The Persona Group won fourth place.

Madam Monarusnita Abu Bakar and Mr Tay Yang Lian gave away the prizes to the winners. Ms Wong Siaw Wuei presented the souvenir to the judges. The event ended at 7 p.m. The competition was a success as the participants enjoyed doing the paper cutting and were able to complete the tasks on time.
