In conjunction with the state-level International Day of Forests 2019, Perak Forestry Department organized Sungai Perak Riverbank Restoration Program at Persiaran Tebing Sungai Perak, Sayong. HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah commenced the event on Monday, 21 Oct 2019.

 

UniKL RCMP was given the honour to participate in this program.  80 UniKL RCMP personnel from Faculty of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, General Studies Unit, Corporate Communication Unit, Lab Department and IT Department, as well as students from Bachelor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Technology, participated in the event.

After delivering his opening address, His Royal Highness, accompanied by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu took the opportunity to visit the participating booths. The half-day event was participated by exhibitors comprising UniKL RCMP, Perak Forestry Department, Friends of Lekir Setiawan Mangrove Forest Association and Friends of Kuala Gula Mangrove Forest Association (Sahabat Alam).

 

The Sultan of Perak had a short visit at UniKL RCMP exhibition booth and was briefed on the research and innovations carried out using Medicinal Plants & Natural Products including the making of essential oil grass from lemongrass.

Prof Dr Ahmad Fuad handed over 2 herbal books as a token of appreciation to HRH. The title of the two books presented to DYMM Seri Paduka Sultan Perak was Useful Herbs of Malaysia and Singapore and The Healing Art of Forest Bathing. Both books were related to the medicinal plant.

UniKL RCMP staff were given the opportunity to have a group photo session with HRH. The International Day of Forests is celebrated on March 21 every year to raise awareness on issues related to the management, administration and preservation of the forest.

Also present were Datuk Mohamed Zin Yusop, Perak Forestry Department Director and other state executive council members.
