YOUR PROFESSIONAL GATEWAY WITH A ROYAL TOUCH
'Feels like home'. That is how our students describe their feelings on staying at UniKL RCMP

Dr Salehuddin bin Sulaiman, MBChB, was among the pioneer group of MBChB students from Perak College of Medicine (PCM), Ipoh in collaboration with the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom (1998-2002). He then obtained a Master in Medicine (Peads.) from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) 2008-2012. Dr.Salehuddin received his tertiary education at MRSM, Taiping.

Upon completion of his MBChB at Sheffield, United Kingdom, he was attached to Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) Hospital, Kota Bharu, Kelantan as a house officer. Later, Dr Salehuddin was appointed as a medical officer at various hospitals such as Mentakab Hospital, SAS Hospital, Temerloh and finally Kajang Hospital. He has also served as a Pediatrician at Kuantan Hospital, Kuala Lipis Hospital and Raja Perempuan Zainab 2 Hospital, Kota Bharu, Kelantan, before quitting government service to join the private sector.

At present, Dr Salehuddin is a Resident Pediatrician at Kuala Terengganu Specialist Hospital (KTSH). As a Resident Pediatrician, he is in charge of both inpatients and outpatients. His daily routine includes visits to the day clinic, which operates during normal office hours as well as ward visits, twice a day. On top of that, he is also an on-call doctor for emergency cases after working hours.

Dr Salehuddin has tied the knot with Puan Masturah binti Haji Mahmud and is a proud dad of five (5) amazing kids. Presently, he is residing in Kuala Terengganu. His daily busy routine at the clinic does not stop him from involving actively in “Pasor Percuma Ganu Kite”, an NGO that focuses on community service for the needy in Terengganu.

A piece of advice from Dr Salehuddin to the youngsters interested in a career as a paediatrician. “This field is rewarding spiritually and morally. As a paediatrician, we treat both, kids and their parents. Love kids unconditionally, be patient and be willing to work odd hours.  Good interpersonal skills are also important criteria to be a good paediatrician. All those skills could be obtained through training and clinical exposure, but to love children unconditionally is an important part of the job.”

As a former medical student of PCM, Dr Salehuddin strongly believes that a good track record, excellent medical labs and facilities, experienced lecturers as well as good hospital attachment opportunities make UniKL RCMP an excellent medical college.
