The Master of Pharmacy (Research) is a postgraduate programme by research designed to train the graduates with core skills, knowledge, latest trends and developments in pharmaceutical research. The programme holds a central place in pharmacy education, involving the following areas:
- Pharmaceutical Technology
- Pharmacy Practice
- Clinical Pharmacy
- Pharmaceutical Analysis
- Pharmaceutical Chemistry
The programme is designed to develop independent, creative scientists and professionals with adequate knowledge and skill base to function in academic, research and the overall development of pharmaceutical services for mankind.
The objective of the programme is to produce professionals with sufficient knowledge, skills and ethical attitudes to promote health, healthcare and equitable health outcomes through outstanding basic and applied research and world-class academic and professional leadership with a commitment to the importance of lifelong learning and continuous improvement.
This programme is also based on research whereby a student can undertake individual research in different areas of pharmaceutical sciences. In addition, the student has to undertake two (2) compulsory subjects (Research Methodology and Innovation Technology & Entrepreneurship) during the course.
The degree is awarded on the basis of the submission of a thesis that shows evidence of the candidate’s ability to carry out research with originality and make a significant contribution to the field of knowledge in the chosen field.
