The Master of Pharmacy (Research) is a post graduate programme by research designed to train the graduates with core skills, knowledge, latest trends and developments in pharmaceutical research. The programme holds a central place in pharmacy education, involving the following areas:

·         Pharmaceutical Technology

·         Pharmacy practice

·         Clinical pharmacy

·         Pharmaceutical analysis

·         Pharmacology

·         Pharmacognosy

·         Pharmaceutical chemistry                                                   

The programme is designed to develop independent, creative scientists and professionals with adequate knowledge and skill base to function in academics, research and overall development of pharmaceutical service to mankind.

The objective of the programme is to produce professionals with sufficient knowledge, skill and ethical attitudes to promote health, healthcare and equitable health outcomes through outstanding basic and applied research and world-class academic and professional leadership with a commitment to the importance of lifelong learning and continuous improvement.

This programme is also based on research whereby a student can undertake individual research in different areas of pharmaceutical sciences. In addition, the student has to undertake two compulsory subjects (Research Methodology and Innovation Technology & Enterpreneurship) during the course. The degree is awarded on the basis of the submission of a thesis that shows evidence of the candidate’s ability to carry out research, originality and significant contribution of the knowledge in the particular field.


Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.75


Applicants having a Bachelor of Pharmacy with CGPA between 2.50 and 2.75 may be considered after internal evaluation of the candidate by the University


Applicants having a Bachelor of Pharmacy with CGPA less than 2.50 with five (5) years of relevant working experience.

Credit (Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM); for Malaysian applicant.


For international applicant, must have attained a level of competence in English as follows:

·         IELTS Score of 6.0 or

·         TOEFL Score of 550
