MASTER OF MEDICAL SCIENCE (BY RESEARCH)

The Master of Medical Science by research introduces students to a broad range of research areas in medical sciences. It is designed to expand their knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts consistent with recent advances in biomedical research. The programme will guide the students towards better understanding of medical sciences, be proficient in analytical and problem solving. It will provide the graduates with skills for future employment and career opportunities in medical research health related teaching and consultancy.

The objectives of this program is:

·         To train graduates to be global enterprising researchers who are knowledgeable, skilled, competent, dynamic and innovative.

·         To stimulate and sustain the culture of research in order to improve human health.

·         To produce graduates with effective communication skills and leadership qualities to support their roles in the industries.

·         To produce graduates who are committed to the importance of lifelong learning and continuous improvement.

·         To produce graduates with professionalism, ethics and social responsibilities.

·         To produce graduates who are enterprising and capable of participating in medical and biotechnological related technopreneurial activities.

The course is research-based, with an element of compulsory courses. The thesis must be a substantial work based on research which showing a sound knowledge of the subject. The following are the research areas:

·         Anatomy

·         Biochemistry

·         Microbiology

·         Parasitology

·         Pharmacology

·         Physiology

·         Public Health

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Science or bachelor degree in related field with minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent as approved by the Senate of Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL)

AND

Credit (Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM); for Malaysian applicant.

For international applicant, must have attained a level of competence in English as follows:

·         IELTS Score of 5.5 or

·         TOEFL Score of 525 or

·         English placement test score of band 6 (conducted internally by UniKL)
